    Me! I'm a good egg!

Just kidding. Well, not really. I am a good egg. But that's not what this is about, so I'm going to stop talking about myself now.

Actually, I'm going to keep talking about myself. I had my 34th birthday the other day. My husband, Brandan, keeps saying, "Oh, you're 29 again." No no no. I can't stand those people, who aren't ok with their age, and feel the need to make jokes about how old they really are. You are you--flaws, wrinkles, and all. You earned all of it. Be proud, and own it.

So, since I'm not really that old, we went out for a night out on the town, partied until 2am, closed down the bars, and slept all day the next day, only waking to eat pizza.

Oh wait---that was when I turned 24, not 34. My mistake.

Since I realized that I AM really that old, and my bedtime is slowly creeping towards grandma status, we decided instead to get out of town for a few days.

I have a newly found love for Airbnb. I mean, I've looked around before, but when looking for this trip, I really dug in. Now I have lists for places I want to stay all over the place. Have you seen some of the stuff on there? It's amazing! I'm not really into the "share a room in my house" bit, but when you can get your own place---it's awesome. I love a spot with a bit more personality than a hotel, and the people are so much more responsive and helpful.

Anyway, so in digging around, I stumble across this listing. And then I found out that that listing was tied to this listing. Talk about house envy!

After hemming and hawing over it a bit, we decided to just go with the cabin for the weekend. We wanted the wood-fired hot tub, we wanted to be able to bring our dog (who does, in fact, go everywhere with us, another reason I love Airbnb), and we decided for the three of us, it would be plenty of space.

Let me just tell you--this place is amazing. We went in winter, so there wasn't anything growing, but it's on my list to go back when things are in full bloom. There's over 100 fruit and nut trees planted throughout the property. The property is 30 acres, and there are trails, and meadows, and a tree house. There's a vegetable garden, and spring water, and no cell phone service, and peace and quiet. And the stars. I've never seen so many stars in one place at one time. They were amazing. (Not to mention you can look at them while sitting in your wood fired hot tub at night.)

In season, I think it would be a paleo's dream. It's a bit rustic, so not for you high maintenance ones, you know who you are. You've got to poop in a composting toilet and put wood chips on it, so if that's not for you, stay at home. More veggies for me!

The gentleman who owns this place, Don, has really brought it to life. And he makes you aware of how all the things you do affect other things in the life cycle, in a way such that you don't even realize he's doing it. But you pay attention to your food waste, your recycle, how much wood you're burning, how much water you're using. It's fantastic.

If you get a chance, go check out the Good Egg Permaculture Resort. You won't be sorry you did.
